Our 4G LTE network camera systems are designed for the novice installer. We complete days of building and testing so your time on site is reduced and hassle free. Its always a quicker install if you can find local power. Its only our 4G BOX that needs direct power, the camera can be 10 or 300 feet away, connected to the BOX on a single & flexible supplied data cable. For applications where access to power is just not an option, then we can help you deploy a 12V battery solution.

  2. 12V SOLAR PANEL READY KIT: 1 x 130ah leisure battery’s + 1 x 12V to mains supply inverter – You add solar panels & charge controller. (£200-£300).

**The battery swap solution is designed for short term projects, up to a few months. If your project is over 3 months then a solar panel upgrade is a serious and beneficial consideration. A single 12v battery will last around 1 week before it needs changing. 

**If you want to reduce overall system cost you can opt for an alternative 1080p, 4MP or 5MP camera.

OFF-GRID IN SUMMARY: If your construction project is only weeks and months long, a 12 V battery swap (none solar panel) solution may be best. Project of 3 months – 3 years will require solar panels. After you have made that decision, next choose your camera. There is an option of x 4 and all with variations surrounding: Power consumption, resolution, lens, viewing angle and cost. When you have selected your camera your system is complete, next you need to consider set-up. You can use a 12V inverter which ensures a quicker install but will add a little to power consumption. You can hard wire our system direct to the battery/solar equipment. More to the install yet no additional power draw.


For 12V battery and solar applications we use our advanced intelligent CS mount lens camera. Its Ultra HD in resolution and more importantly offers a low power consumption of just 6 watts. Other high powered network cameras draw up and over 12 watts.

Our 12V system is ready for outdoor installation in harsh construction environments. The camera operates in temperatures as low as -40 °C and as high as 55°C (-40 °F to 131 °F). It’s IP66 rated, NEMA 4X and IK10. Also featuring: Forensic WDR, Lightfinder Technology and the Intelligent i-CS lens. Precise iris control for the clearest images possible in changing light conditions.


There are 3 or 4 cameras that are suitable for solar. Ones that have the right balance in regards to cost, power draw, resolution, lens and angle of view. The default camera is the advanced 4K UHD model, Its rich in features but has a lower than average power consumption of 6 watts.

Other options include a 4MP camera with a fixed lens, a 5MP camera with a fixed lens and a 1080p full HD camera with a varifocal lens.

  • Defaulted 4K Camera’s features: – Resolution: 4K, 8.3MP, 3840 x 2160 – Lens: Varifocal/zoom – Horizontal Angle: 83° – 45° – Power draw: Typical 6.4 watts.



Our system consists of: 1 x Network Camera, 1 x 4G Router, 1 x POE Injector. If we use the defaulted 4K camera, this has a draw of 6.4 watts, the 4G router is 4 watts. The POE injector negotiates the required power of the camera but may add a variation of + 1 watts. The total system draw is around 10 – 11.4 watts. You can use an inverter for a quicker install but this will +2 watts to the power consumption. Wiring our hardware direct to the battery wont.

RUN TIME EXAMPLE: Lets say this was the above example 4K system and you was using an inverter. You have an average system power consumption of 12 watts. You take the “ah” of the battery (amps per hour ) x this by 10 then divide by your wattage = The estimated run time in hours. Our system has a 130ah 12v battery x 10 = 1300 / 12 watts = 108 hours / 4.5 days. 

The above example means your 1st 12v battery would last 4.5 days and then need changing, you swap it for the 2nd one you had on charge and repeat. The 1080p camera @ 3.6 watts would last longer.

The 108 hour run time calculation can last a lot longer in days if someone on site could switch off the battery power supply each night or at the weekends. Remember, most time lapse applications are 10 hours per day mon – friday.

< This is an inverter that you can wire to the battery. This allows you to then plug our hardware into a standard plug socket. The plus side of this means the installation is quicker and easier. The down-side is that it adds a little more to power consumption. You can opt to wire our hardware to the battery but this will take a little more skill.

MORE “AH” = MORE RUN TIME: We can supply battery’s that go up to 200ah and beyond. The down-side is these battery’s are around 50+ KG in weight. This size of battery will not be great for swapping every 4-7 days.


If you select the “Solar Panel Ready” option then the kit includes 1 x 130ah battery. It is down to you the installer to source and install the solar panels. We have many UK & Ireland projects that have run successfully with solar panels throughout summer and winter. Solar installation does add an extra level to the set-up and we recommend giving yourself as much time as possible to learn and go over the set up. Take some time with the solar charge controller and learn its settings.

The reason we don’t provide solar panels and charge controllers is because we don’t install them. Burgess Technologies can not support products that we don’t configure,

What we can do is pass on 2 years of knowledge in regards to our hardware working with solar and what we have learnt.

If you are looking to deploy the none solar panel quick swap 12v battery solution, then the longer your battery runs the better. Therefore our 4MP or full HD 1080p camera may be more suitable. Its all about finding the right balance. Which is more important to you ? Power consumption or resolution & image quality.

Cost may be another reason to downgrade on resolution, if a fixed 65 degree horizontal angle is sufficient then the 5MP camera will reduce your overall system cost. This camera is significantly less money than our 4K offering. We have 5MP examples in our Recent works section.

  • 4MP Camera – Resolution: 4MP, 2688 x 1520 – Lens: 2.4mm Fixed – Horizontal Angle: 130° – Power draw: Typical 5.1 watts
  • 1080p Camera – Resolution: 2MP, 1920 x 1080 – Lens: Varifocal  – Horizontal Angle: 91-32° – Power draw: Typical 3.6 watts

USING AN INVERTER: This is how a 12v quick swap battery set up would look with an inverter. You would have your 2nd 12v battery on charge and ready to swap over.

PLUS POINT: Easy to set up, easy to switch off (inverter has ON/OFF) & easy to swap battery.

DOWN SIDE: Adds a small extra draw to the battery so will add to power consumption.

NOT USING AN INVERTER: Here we would make our hardware 12v terminal block ready, then you wire to the battery.  The BLUE cable is a data cable, this powers & connects the camera. Typically you would have our hardware and the battery all together locally. Then you would run out the data cable to the camera.

PLUS POINT: Removes the extra power consumption an inverter adds.

DOWN SIDE: A little more to the set up and not as quick to swap the battery.

    Part of our pre-build service includes coating the lens front of the camera with an advanced marine grade rain repellent. We apply a Nano PTFE coating which is specially designed for dirt, grease and water repellency. Nano technology is a technique that makes it possible to work with particles in the order of nanometers, which is one billionth of a meter.

From any internet enabled machine you/we can log into the camera and improve the field of view. The 3 x optical zoom is useful for removing any walls or similar surroundings that look better out of the image, than in it.

PLEASE NOTE: **The resolution used for the zoom feature is a reduced megapixel stream, this is not 4K.
